‘Until We Meet Again’ is a song that probably characterizes all separations. In this case it was off for military training during the war in Vietnam.
Back in 1972, I had been selected to Air Force OTS, then later to training as a helicopter pilot. Since OTS was “unaccompanied” we had to part for a short time (12 weeks). We had only been married a short time and this was to be our first long separation. It doesn’t seem so long looking back, but looking forward it seemed like an eternity.
